Algebra I is a foundational high school mathematics course that develops the skills needed to solve complex problems using algebraic reasoning. Students explore linear equations and inequalities, functions, systems of equations, polynomials, exponents, radicals, and quadratic relationships. Through problem solving, graphing, modeling, and real-world applications, learners develop a deeper understanding of mathematical patterns and relationships. This course strengthens logical thinking, analytical reasoning, and mathematical communication while preparing students for success in Geometry, Algebra II, and higher-level mathematics.
Algebra II builds upon the foundations of Algebra I and expands students’ understanding of advanced algebraic concepts and mathematical modeling. Students explore polynomial, rational, exponential, and logarithmic functions, systems of equations, sequences and series, complex numbers, and advanced equation-solving techniques. Through problem solving, analysis, and real-world applications, learners develop deeper mathematical reasoning and critical thinking skills. This course prepares students for higher-level mathematics, including Precalculus, Statistics, and college-level STEM studies, while strengthening their ability to model and solve complex problems.
Close Reading 1A helps students develop stronger reading comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills through engaging National Geographic texts. Students learn to analyze main ideas, supporting details, text structure, and author’s purpose while expanding their academic vocabulary. Through close reading activities, discussion, and evidence-based responses, learners build the confidence and skills needed to understand increasingly complex texts and succeed in academic reading and writing.
Close Reading 1B builds upon the skills developed in 1A and challenges students to engage with more complex texts and ideas. Using authentic National Geographic readings, students strengthen their ability to analyze key details, make inferences, identify author’s purpose, and evaluate information from a variety of topics. Through close reading, vocabulary development, discussion, and evidence-based responses, learners deepen their comprehension skills and become more confident, thoughtful readers prepared for higher-level academic work.
