In this once-weekly live Algebra I class, students build confidence with linear equations, systems, inequalities, exponent rules, polynomials, factoring, quadratics, radicals, and rational expressions. They will learn to solve and graph equations, interpret real-world situations, choose appropriate problem-solving methods, and explain their reasoning clearly. By the end of the course, students will be better prepared for Algebra assessments and for using algebra in future math courses.
Close Reading 1A helps students develop stronger reading comprehension, vocabulary, and critical thinking skills through engaging National Geographic texts. Students learn to analyze main ideas, supporting details, text structure, and author’s purpose while expanding their academic vocabulary. Through close reading activities, discussion, and evidence-based responses, learners build the confidence and skills needed to understand increasingly complex texts and succeed in academic reading and writing.
Close Reading 1B builds upon the skills developed in 1A and challenges students to engage with more complex texts and ideas. Using authentic National Geographic readings, students strengthen their ability to analyze key details, make inferences, identify author’s purpose, and evaluate information from a variety of topics. Through close reading, vocabulary development, discussion, and evidence-based responses, learners deepen their comprehension skills and become more confident, thoughtful readers prepared for higher-level academic work.
Close Reading 2A helps students strengthen their reading comprehension and analytical thinking through engaging National Geographic texts. Students learn to identify key ideas, analyze supporting details, make inferences, and understand how authors develop information and viewpoints. Through close reading, vocabulary study, discussion, and evidence-based responses, learners expand their academic vocabulary and develop the skills needed to understand increasingly complex texts. This course encourages students to become confident, independent readers who can think critically about what they read.
